San Francisco head to Arizona on an inconsistent run of form that has left them with a 6-4 record.
The 49ers made a fast start to the season as they reeled off three consecutive wins, beating Seattle 17-13 and New Orleans 26-21 on the road, before returning home to down Arizona 16-15.
Their perfect start was ended by a 28-21 loss to Jacksonville, but they rebounded immediately with a 26-23 overtime win at the Los Angeles Rams.
San Francisco then had to respond to a 30-19 defeat at Tampa Bay with a 20-10 victory over Atlanta, only to head to Houston for a surprise 26-15 loss.
The 49ers again bounced back quickly from a loss, winning 34-24 at the New York Giants, but they again failed to follow up a victory as they lost 42-26 at home to the Los Angeles Rams.
Arizona Cardinals Form
Arizona enter this matchup on a miserable run of form, having lost six of their last seven games to fall to 3-6.
The Cardinals opened the season with back-to-back wins, beating New Orleans 20-13 and Carolina 27-22, but it has been largely all downhill since then.
Their perfect start was ended by a 16-15 loss in San Francisco, and they then suffered back-to-back defeats at home as they lost 23-20 to Seattle and 22-21 to Tennessee.
Arizona’s skid continued as they lost 31-27 at Indianapolis and 27-23 at home to Green Bay, before they finally snapped the skid with a 27-17 upset of Dallas on the road.
The Cardinals were immediately brought back down to Earth though, as they lost 44-22 in Seattle last weekend.
Verdict
San Francisco could not have asked for a much better matchup to have after last week’s loss.
