The Avalanche, who went 50-25-7 in the regular season, made a rough start to the playoffs as they were beaten 7-6 by Winnipeg in Game 1.

Colorado then went back out on the road to clinch the series, running out 6-3 winners in Game 5 in Winnipeg.
The Avalanche backed up that big road win with another on Tuesday night, beating Dallas 4-3 in overtime in the opening game of this second-round series.

Dallas go into the second game of this series looking to open up a 2-0 lead before heading out on the road.
The Stars, who topped the Central Division with a 52-21-9 record, got off to a terrible start in the postseason as they lost 4-3 and 3-1 at home to Vegas.
They rebounded on the road though, knotting up the series with 3-2 (OT) and 4-2 victories in Vegas, and they then headed home to take the lead for the first time with a 3-2 win.
Dallas failed to wrap up the series on the road as they lost 2-0 in Game 6, only to get the job done at home as they won 2-1 in Game 7.
However, they failed to back that up in the opening game of this series, as they were beaten 4-3 in overtime by Colorado on Tuesday night.
Verdict
Goals appear to be on the cards whenever these two teams share the ice.
