Dallas enter tonight’s matchup on the back of a defeat, but in good form with 10 wins in their previous 13 games.
The Stars’ good run began in early November as they embarked on a five-game win streak that was eventually ended by a 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders.
They rebounded with a 4-2 win in Vancouver, only to then suffer a 3-2 shootout defeat when they moved on to face the Flames in Calgary.
Dallas responded strongly on the road though, backing up an 8-3 win at Edmonton with a 3-2 win in Seattle, and they then returned home to down Utah 4-3 and Ottawa 6-1.
The Stars were unable to make it five-in-a-row however, as they lost 3-2 in overtime at the New York Rangers last night.
New Jersey Devils Form
New Jersey go into this game on a disappointing run of form, having now lost five of their previous eight games.
The Devils began this sequence with a run of three consecutive road defeats, falling 5-1 at Tampa Bay, 1-0 at Florida and 6-3 in Philadelphia.
They stopped the rot when they returned home, beating Detroit 4-3 and St Louis 3-2 in overtime, and backed that up on the road as they downed Buffalo 5-0.
New Jersey were unable to keep that run going though, as they returned home for back-to-back defeats.
The Devils’ winning run was ended by a 5-3 defeat to Philadelphia, and that was followed by a 5-3 loss to Columbus.
Verdict
Dallas have been on a solid run recently despite the loss to the Rangers, while New Jersey just dropped back-to-back home games as part of a poor run.
That makes the Stars an appealing pick as a slight underdog in this one.
