The Panthers won the Atlantic Division with a 52-24-6 record, and they got off to a flying start in the postseason as they won three straight games.
They beat Tampa Bay 3-2 in regulation and 3-2 in overtime at home, before heading out on the road to down the Lightning 5-3.
Florida missed out on the series sweep as they then lost 6-3, but they were able to clinch at the second attempt as they returned home to crush Tampa, 6-1.
The Panthers failed to follow that up in the opening game of this series, losing 5-1 in Boston, but they issued an emphatic response with a 6-1 success in Game 2.
Boston Bruins Form
Boston go into their first home game of this series in a decent position despite suffering a heavy defeat last time out.
The Bruins, who went 47-20-15 in the regular season, engaged in a marathon first-round series with Toronto that went the full seven games.
They opened up a 3-1 series lead over the Maple Leafs, only to then lose 2-1 in overtime at home and 2-1 in regulation on the road.
That left Boston on the brink of another embarrassing playoff collapse, but they held their nerve in Game 7 and recorded a 2-1 overtime win to advance to round two.
The Bruins then made a red-hot start to this series with a 5-1 win in Florida, only to then suffer a 6-1 defeat in the second game of the series.
Verdict
You could make a case for either team after the first two games, but give us the underdogs here.
Boston have won all but one of the six meetings this season and Florida's recent road form has not been great.
