New York head back to Florida knowing that defeat on Saturday night will bring an end to their season.
The Rangers, who win their division with a 55-23-4 record, swept Washington in four games in the first round, and then won the first three games of the series with Carolina.
They let the Hurricanes back into it with 4-3 and 4-1 defeats, but ended their hopes of a comeback in Game 6 as they finally clinched the series with a 5-3 road win.
New York were beaten 3-0 at home by Florida in the opening game of the Eastern Conference Finals, only to respond with back-to-back overtime victories, winning 2-1 at home and 5-4 on the road.
The Rangers failed to keep that momentum going and are now just one loss away from elimination, having lost 3-2 in overtime on the road and 3-2 in regulation at home.
Florida Panthers Form
Florida return home with an opportunity to clinch the series after a huge road win in New York in Game 5.
The Panthers, who won their division with a 52-24-6 record, cruised past state rivals Tampa Bay in the first round of the postseason, beating the Lightning 4-1.
They then lost the series opener at home to Boston, only to respond with three consecutive victories, before bouncing back from a 2-1 home loss with a series-clinching 2-1 win on the road.
Florida made a strong start to this series as they won 3-0 in New York, but they dropped the next two meetings, losing 2-1 in overtime on the road and 5-4 in overtime at home.
The Panthers have responded well though and are just one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals after recording a 3-2 overtime win at home and a 3-2 victory in regulation on the road.
