Abedallah Shelbayh received a lucky loser spot after losing to Marc Polmans in the final qualifying round and made full use of the opportunity by defeating Corentin Moutet 7-5, 6-4. The Jordanian dropped serve twice and converted four of the 12 break points he created during the match.
It was only the third ATP main-draw win of his career. His previous tour-level victories came in Metz and Banja Luka in 2023, with both campaigns ending in the following round.
The 22-year-old had been struggling for results throughout the season. Before this week, he had not won a main-draw match at any level since late March, highlighting the difficult run he had endured over the last few months.

Dimitrov Advances Without Facing a Break Point
Grigor Dimitrov moved into the second round in Mallorca with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Marc Polmans. The Bulgarian did not face a single break point during the match and converted two of the four break points he created.
Dimitrov recently reached the quarterfinals of the Dublin Challenger, his best result in several months.
