Jaime Faria's home advantage and familiarity with the conditions could prove decisive in this matchup. The Portuguese has been playing some excellent tennis in recent weeks, arriving with plenty of confidence after a string of strong performances. While his opponent may have more experience at this level, Faria's current form and the support of the home crowd give him a slight edge.

Van de Zandschulp Looks to End His Slump

Botic van de Zandschulp made a solid start to the season by reaching the third round at the Australian Open and Rome, the quarterfinals in Rotterdam, and the semifinals in Bucharest.

However, he has struggled for confidence in recent weeks, suffering early exits in each of his last six tournaments. He will be looking to rediscover the form that brought him success earlier in the season.

This will be his second main-draw appearance in Estoril. He reached the second round on his debut in 2024.

Faria Looks to Continue His Progress

Jaime Faria started the season outside the top 150, but his consistent results have helped him return to the top 100 and move close to his career-high ranking of No. 87.

The Portuguese reached the third round at the French Open, the quarterfinals in Rio de Janeiro, and also recorded six quarterfinal-or-better finishes on the Challenger Tour this season.

This will be his second appearance in Estoril. He lost in the first round on his debut in 2024 and will be hoping for a better result this week.
