Burruchaga Arrives with Renewed Confidence
Roman Andres Burruchaga enjoyed a successful week in Umag, reaching the semifinals after defeating Flavio Cobolli and Camilo Ugo Carabelli before losing to eventual champion Juan Merida Aguilar in straight sets.
It was a much-needed result after entering the tournament on a four-match losing streak. Before Umag, he had failed to record multiple main-draw wins in each of his previous seven events.
The Argentine also reached his maiden ATP Tour final in Houston earlier this season and added three semifinal-or-better finishes on the Challenger Tour, helping him achieve a career-high ranking of No. 56 a few months ago.
He now arrives in Estoril looking to build on last week's momentum while making his tournament debut.
