Medvedev Chases a Stronger North American Run
Daniil Medvedev defeated Marco Trungelliti in straight sets to reach the third round in Cincinnati, 6-4, 7-5. He trailed 2-5 in the second set and saved two match points before fighting back to seal the victory in straight sets.
The Russian began his North American swing in Montreal last week with an opening-round loss to Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets, a disappointing result after his solid season so far.
He has posted five semifinal-or-better results this year, along with reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open and Madrid, which have helped him maintain his place inside the Top 10.
