Daniil Medvedev is coming off a disappointing first-round loss at Roland Garros, where he fell to Adam Walton in five sets. The defeat was a surprise given his solid results in the lead-up events, including a semifinal appearance in Rome and a fourth-round run in Madrid.
Despite that setback, Medvedev has enjoyed a strong season overall. He won titles in Brisbane and Dubai, finished runner-up at Indian Wells, and reached the fourth round at both the Australian Open and Madrid. Those results helped him return to the Top 10.
This is his seventh appearance in 's-Hertogenbosch. He holds a 3-3 record in second-round matches at the event and has reached the quarterfinals in every alternate appearance, most recently last year.

Boogaard Impresses on Home Soil
Thijs Boogaard received a main-draw wildcard this week and made the most of the opportunity by defeating Yibing Wu 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the second round in 's-Hertogenbosch. He fired 11 aces and saved six of the eight break points he faced during the match.
The result is an important one for the Dutch teenager. Earlier this season, he received a lucky loser spot in Rotterdam but lost to Stan Wawrinka in straight sets. He also fell in his only previous Challenger main-draw appearance in Soma Bay.
The 17-year-old has spent most of his career on the ITF circuit, where he reached three quarterfinals earlier this year. This victory is comfortably the biggest win of his young career so far.
