Andrey Rublev arrives in excellent form, riding a five-match winning streak that includes last week's title triumph in Bastad. When the Russian builds this kind of momentum, he becomes one of the toughest players to stop, particularly against opponents ranked below his level. Luca Van Assche is a talented youngster, but he faces a difficult task against a confident Rublev playing with freedom.

Rublev Continues His Pursuit Of Another Title

  • Andrey Rublev has won nine of his last 10 clay-court quarterfinals.
  • He owns a 13–3 record against players outside the Top 50 in 2026.
  • Luca Van Assche holds a 0–3 record in tour-level quarterfinals.
  • He has a 0–10 career record against Top 20 players.

Andrey Rublev Continues Bastad Momentum

Andrey Rublev reached the quarterfinals after defeating Timofey Skatov in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. This was his first main-draw victory in Estoril after his previous appearances ended in the qualifying stages.

After finishing the grass-court season without a win, Rublev quickly rediscovered his clay-court form by winning the Bastad title last week.

He has already produced five semifinal-or-better finishes on tour this season, along with a quarterfinal appearance in Rome and a fourth-round run at the French Open.

Rublev heads into this clash with a 14-7 career record in ATP Tour clay-court quarterfinals and has won nine of his last 10 matches at this stage on the surface.

Van Assche Eyes Maiden ATP Tour Semifinal

Luca Van Assche secured his place in the quarterfinals with an upset victory over Pablo Carreno Busta, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. He backed it up after another three-set win over Frederico Ferreira Silva in the previous round.

This is only the second time this season that Van Assche has won multiple ATP Tour main-draw matches. His previous run came in Bucharest, where he reached the quarterfinals before losing to Camilo Ugo Carabelli in three sets.

The Frenchman has also won three Challenger titles this season and now heads into the match with a 0-3 career record in ATP Tour quarterfinals.
