Sinner Continues Dominant Masters Form

Jannik Sinner survived a tough opening match in Madrid, beating Benjamin Bonzi 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. Despite dropping the first set, he never faced a break point and converted three of his 13 chances.

The Italian recently won his first Masters title on clay by defeating his rival Carlos Alcaraz in the Monte Carlo final. That victory also helped him return to world No. 1 and boosted his confidence on this surface.

Sinner is now on a 23-match winning streak in Masters events and has won the title in his last four tournaments at this level, starting from the Paris Masters last year.

The 24-year-old has won at least three matches in every clay event he has played since the start of 2024 and will aim to keep that streak going this week.

Moller Builds Dream Madrid Week

Elmer Moller continued his breakthrough week in Madrid by reaching the third round after Gabriel Diallo retired while trailing by a set. It marked his fourth straight-set win of the week as a qualifier.

This is his best result so far at Masters level. Before this event, he had never played a main-draw match in a Masters tournament and had never recorded multiple main-draw wins at tour level.

He had played eight tournaments across all levels this year and managed only two wins, both second-round runs in Santiago and Bucharest, making this Madrid run a major step forward.
