Even so, the Swiss has built a reputation as a relentless competitor who gives everything on court, and playing in front of his home crowd should provide an extra lift. With Stefanos Tsitsipas still struggling for form and confidence, Kym has every chance of making this a competitive contest.

Jerome Kym defeated local youngster Dylan Dietrich in three sets, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6, to reach the second round in Gstaad. He was broken three times but won 76% of his first-serve points during the match.
The Swiss is now one win away from matching his result from last year, when he reached his maiden ATP Tour quarterfinal on his Gstaad debut.
Kym has played 11 tour-level events this season and, apart from three Challenger quarterfinal-or-better finishes, including the Iasi Challenger last week, he has failed to win a main-draw match in any of his other tournaments.

Tsitsipas Looks to Revive His Season
Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the second round after defeating Ignacio Buse in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. He dropped serve once and converted three of the 10 break points he created.
The Greek is now looking to reach only his second quarterfinal of the season after Doha, highlighting his struggles on tour this year. His only other multiple-match runs came with the fourth round in Madrid and the third round in Miami.
The 27-year-old reached the semifinals in his only previous appearance in Gstaad in 2024, and with a favorable draw, he will be looking to match that result this week.
