Despite his recent struggles, Sonego remains a proven performer on the surface and possesses considerably more grass-court pedigree than Mariano Navone, whose game is much more naturally suited to clay courts.

Mariano Navone Seeks Better Fortune on Grass
Mariano Navone begins his grass-court season after last competing at Roland Garros, where he suffered a five-set defeat to Jakub Mensik. The Argentine pushed the match the distance but was unable to close it out.
Navone endured a slow start to the year, failing to record multiple match wins in any of his first seven tournaments. Since March, however, his results have improved, highlighted by titles in Bucharest and the Cap Cana Challenger, a runner-up finish in Geneva, and a third-round appearance in Rome.
This will be Navone's second visit to Mallorca. He entered the event last year but was eliminated in the qualifying draw. The Argentine arrives with a 1-3 record in first-round matches at tour-level grass-court events.

Sonego Looking to End Difficult Run
Lorenzo Sonego has been dealing with fitness issues for much of the season and has played a limited schedule. The Italian has struggled to find consistency, and his results have reflected that throughout the year.
Sonego has competed in nine tournaments across all levels in 2026. He managed to win his opening match at four of those events but was unable to progress beyond the second round in any of them.
