Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Picks & Betting Tips

Kansas City have underwhelmed so far can could fail to cover in this big divisional clash.

You could make a case for KC being 0-2 right now as the defense continues to struggle in all areas.

LA have hardly been great themselves though, so the Chiefs are a solid pick to win at home.

They may not cover however. This Chargers offense has the talent to keep things close.

Los Angeles Chargers Form

Los Angeles have made a 1-1 start while facing teams from the NFC East.

The Chargers overcame that tough Washington defense as they won their season-opener 20-16.

They failed to build on that last weekend though. A 56-yard field goal as time expired condemned them to a 20-17 defeat at home to Dallas.

QB Justin Herbert has not got off to the best of starts in his sophomore year. While he does have 675 yards and two touchdowns, he has thrown three picks.

Austin Ekeler has shown his dual threat out of the backfield with 172 all-purpose yards and a TD so far.

The standout performer on offense, however, has been WR Mike Williams. He has 173 yards and two scores off 15 catches. Keenan Allen has productive too, going for 208 yards off 13 receptions.

The defense has allowed a ton of yardage, but the ‘bend, don’t break’ approach has only given up an average of 18 points per game.

Kansas City Chiefs Form

Kansas City are 1-1 after blowing a lead to lose in Baltimore last Sunday night.

The Chiefs underwhelmed on opening day, needing a huge TD pass, a botched punt and a late pick to scape past Cleveland, 33-29.

They found themselves on the receiving end of a major shift in momentum in Week 2 though.

KC led 35-24 going into the fourth but gave up two rushing TDs to Lamar Jackson to lose 36-35.

Patrick Mahomes has made a strong start to the season, going 51/67 for 680 yards, six TDs and one pick. He also has a rushing score.

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, yet again, have been his favorite targets. Hill has 211 yards and a score, with Kelce going for 185 yards and three TDs.

They will want more from Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He has only 89 yards rushing and 29 receiving. He also coughed up the football at a critical time in the loss to the Ravens.

Defensively they need to improve too. While they have forced four takeaways, they have now allowed 469 yards and 32.5 points per game.

Verdict

Kansas City rarely lose back-to-back games and they have the quality to bounce back here.

However, Justin Herbert could take advantage of a struggling defense to keep LA right in this game.

The Chiefs can win it but once again they could fail to cover in a divisional matchup.
