San Francisco 49ers Form

San Francisco sealed playoff football with a dramatic overtime win over the Rams in Los Angeles.

The 49ers were in trouble in late October when they lost four straight games to fall to 2-4, but their response was strong.

A 33-22 win in Chicago proved to be the start of a good run of form that saw the Niners win seven of their next 10 games to put their fate in their own hands.

There were some notable wins along the way too, including a 26-23 overtime win over the Bengals in Cincinnati.

That left San Francisco in a ‘win and you’re in’ situation heading into the Week 18 clash with the Los Angeles Rams, but they appeared to have blown their chance when they trailed 17-0 in the first half.

The Niners fought back though and after Jauan Jennings caught a touchdown pass with 26 seconds to go to force overtime, the visitors won it with a 24-yard field goal from Robbie Gould.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo finished the regular season 301/441 for 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Deebo Samuel was the biggest weapon on offense, racking up 1,405 yards receiving and six touchdowns, as well as 365 rushing yards and eight more TDs. He also threw a touchdown pass.

George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk combined for 1,736 yards receiving and 11 TDs, while Elijah Mitchell rushed for 963 yards and five scores.

The defense finished the season in the top 10 in the league in points allowed per game (21.5) and top three in yards allowed per game (310.0).

Dallas Cowboys Form

Dallas won the NFC East title despite some inconsistent offense over the last couple of months.

The Cowboys were on a tear when they won five straight games before the bye, but their momentum stalled when they returned to action.

They lost three of their next five games as the offense began to splutter.

A 27-17 win over New Orleans steadied the ship though, and Dallas followed that up with three straight division wins to pull away in the East.

They sandwiched a 21-6 win over the New York Giants with 27-20 and 56-14 wins over Washington.

Their streak was halted by a 25-22 loss at home to Arizona, but Dallas wrapped up the regular season in emphatic fashion with a 51-26 blowout of Philadelphia.

QB Dak Prescott ended the season 410/596 for 4,449 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

CeeDee Lamb was the favorite target, racking up 1,102 yards and six touchdowns from 79 receptions.

Exekiel Elliott notched another 1,000-yard rushing season, running for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had 287 yards receiving and a couple more scores.

Dallas’ defense gave up a ton of yards to rank in the bottom half of the league in yards allowed per game, but they did not give up a lot of points, finishing in the top 10 in points allowed per game (21.1).
