The Roughriders made a fast start to the season as they won their first four games, and they then rallied from their first defeat with another four-game tear.
That run was again ended by Calgary, as they lost 32-15 to the Stampeders, but they rallied to secure their playoff place with games to spare.
Saskatchewan won back-to-back meetings with Winnipeg, beating the Blue Bombers 34-30 at home and 21-13 on the road.
The Roughriders failed to make it three-in-a-row though, as they were beaten 48-31 by Montreal last time out.
Edmonton Elks Form
Edmonton go into this game in desperate need of a win, having dropped back-to-back games to fall to 5-9.
The Elks kicked off the campaign with three consecutive defeats, before finally getting off the mark with a 39-33 victory over Ottawa.
They failed to build on that as they lost the next three, but they did rally to win four of the next five to reignite their postseason hopes.
Edmonton beat Montreal 23-22, Toronto 28-20 and Ottawa 30-20, before rebounding from a 28-7 defeat to Calgary with a 31-19 win over the Stampeders.
The Elks were unable to maintain that momentum however, as they lost 31-30 in Toronto and 29-27 at Hamilton.
Verdict
Saskatchewan lost last time out, but they are simply the better team in better form.
