Texas enter this series on the back of a win, but having cooled off over the past several days with four defeats in six games.
The Rangers enjoyed a god run in late May as they followed up a 6-2 win in Minnesota with 4-2 and 6-1 victories at home to Arizona.
They then rebounded from an 8-2 defeat in Miami with 7-0 and 6-0 wins over the Marlins, only to see their form dip after that.
Texas suffered back-to-back defeats at home to Detroit, losing 2-1 and 3-1, but avoided being swept as they took the final meeting 9-1.
The Rangers then fell to 5-2 and 3-1 defeats at home to San Francisco, only to again win a series finale by beating the Giants 7-2.
Los Angeles Dodgers Form
Los Angeles return home on the back of a defeat, but they have been in solid form with eight wins in their last 12 games.
The Dodgers began this sequence in New York, where they swept the Mets in a three-game series thanks to 5-2, 3-0 and 10-3 wins.
They then bounced back from a 4-1 defeat at home to Colorado with 4-1 and 4-0 victories over the Rockies.
Los Angeles failed to follow up those wins as they suffered 1-0 and 10-6 defeats in Pittsburgh, but they did avoid being swept as they took the final encounter 11-7.
The Dodgers then travelled to New York to beat the Yankees 2-1 and 11-3, only to miss out on the sweep as they dropped the final matchup, 6-4.
Verdict
Los Angeles are the team in better form and James Paxton is better than his last outing suggests, so we like the Dodgers in this series opener.
