Miami booked their place in the playoffs via winning their second outing in the Play-In Tournament.
The Heat finished the regular season with a 46-36 regular-season record to narrowly miss out on an automatic berth.
They did end the regular season on a good run of form though, winning seven of the final 10 games to go into the Play-In with momentum.
Miami failed to take their first chance though, as they suffered a 105-104 defeat in Philadelphia that also saw them lose Jimmy Butler to injury.
The Heat took their second shot in the Play-In Tournament however, as they dominated Chicago in a 112-91 victory at home.
Boston Celtics Form
Boston compiled a league-best 64-18 regular-season record to finish top of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Celtics suffered a handful of defeats late in the season, but they ended that part of the campaign in great form with 16 wins in their final 20 games.
That sequence started with a nine-game win streak that was finally ended by a couple of surprise defeats in Atlanta.
Boston responded with a five-game win streak, winning 104-92 in New Orleans and 118-104 in Charlotte, before heading home to down Oklahoma City 135-100, Sacramento 101-100 and Portland 124-107.
The Celtics’ run was halted by losses to Milwaukee and New York, but they rebounded over their final two games, beating Charlotte 131-98 and Washington 132-122.
Verdict
Miami’s is made even harder with Butler’s absence, but we like them in the role of underdog.
