Houston come into this March Madness matchup having lost just one of their previous 13 games.
The Cougars wrapped up their regular season campaign with a nine-game win streak in response to a 78-65 defeat in Kansas on February 3.
They extended that win streak to 11 games with a couple of victories in the Big 12 tournament, beating TCU 60-45 and Texas Tech 82-59 to book their place in the final.
However, Houston failed to get their hands on the trophy as they suffered a surprise blowout loss to Iowa State, 69-41.
The Cougars have rebounded in the national tournament though, beating Longwood 85-46 and Texas A&M 100-95 (OT) to book their place in the Sweet 16.
Duke Form
Duke enter this Sweet 16 game having rebounded from a couple of defeats with back-to-back wins.
The Blue Devils were a consistent team during the regular season, losing back-to-back games just once.
They did close out the regular season with a defeat though, losing 84-79 to North Carolina, and they failed to bounce back from that in the ACC tournament.
Duke were paired with NC State in the quarter-finals, after receiving byes in the previous two rounds, and fell at the first hurdle as they suffered a surprise 74-69 defeat.
The Blue Devils have got themselves back on track in the national tournament though, beating Vermont 64-47 and James Madison 93-55.
Verdict
Houston’s stock has dropped in recent weeks, while Duke’s has been on the rise at March Madness.
This is the Blue Devils’ biggest test yet, but given the Cougars spread struggles in recent times, we are leaning towards the underdogs and the points.
