They embarked on a run to the Big 12 tournament final by beating Kansas State 76-57 and Baylor 76-62.
Iowa State then produced a stunning upset of #1 Houston in the final, not just beating them but blowing them out, 69-41.
The Cyclones have built on that massive victory during the first two rounds of the national tournament, beating South Dakota State 82-65 and Washington State 67-56.

Illinois are riding a six-game win streak into the Sweet 16 of the national tournament.
The Fighting Illini dropped a couple of games late in the regular season, but did wrap up that part of the campaign with a 73-61 win in Iowa.
That proved to be the start of a six-game win streak that included success at the Big Ten conference tournament.
Illinois booked their place in the tournament final by beating Ohio State 77-74 and Nebraska 98-87, and they then clinched the trophy by beating Wisconsin 93-87.
The Fighting Illini have maintained their momentum in March Madness, following up an 85-69 win over Morehead State with an 89-63 blowout of Duquesne.
