They managed to wrap up the schedule with a win though, beating Xavier 86-80, and they backed that up in their first two outings at the Big East tournament.
Marquette beat Villanova 71-65 in overtime and Providence 79-69 in regulation, only to lose 73-57 to UConn in the final.
The Golden Eagles have rebounded at the national tournament though, beating Western Kentucky 87-69 and Colorado 81-77.
NC State Form
NC State head into this matchup on a red-hot run of form, having now won each of their last seven games.
The Wolfpack ended the regular season with a four-game losing skid, but responded in sensational fashion in the ACC tournament.
They beat Louisville 94-85, Syracuse 83-65, Duke 74-69 and Virginia 73-65 (OT) to book their place in the final.
NC State then topped those victories by upsetting North Carolina, 84-76, to win then conference tournament.
The wins have kept coming at the national tournament too, with the Wolfpack beating Texas Tech 80-67 and Oakland 79-73 to reach this stage.

Marquette are the better team, but NC State’s momentum cannot be ignored.
