The Crimson Tide kicked off the season with a 63-0 shutout win over Western Kentucky, and backed that up with a 42-16 victory against South Florida.

They then went out on the road to blow out Wisconsin, 42-10, before kicking off their SEC campaign with a thrilling 41-34 win over Georgia.

Alabama failed to keep that winning run going though, as they suffered a sensational upset defeat at Vanderbilt, losing 40-35.

The Crimson Tide bounced back at the first attempt, but they were far from convincing as the held on to beat South Carolina 27-25 and improve to 5-1.

Tennessee Form

Tennessee enter this matchup on the back of a win that improved their record to 5-1 through seven weeks.

The Volunteers opened up the season with a string of convincing wins that saw them pile up a combined 191 points.

They beat Chattanooga 69-3 in their season opener, and then dominated NC State in a 54-10 victory before shutting out Kent State in a 71-0 success.

Tennessee then made it four-in-a-row with a 25-15 win at Oklahoma, only to see their perfect start then end with a shock 19-14 defeat in Arkansas.

The Volunteers rebounded last weekend though, running out 23-17 winners when they entertained Florida.

Verdict

Both teams have underwhelmed over the past couple of weeks, but Tennessee’s defense has us liking the Volunteers.

They have given up very little through their first six games and are backed to make sure Alabama do not pull away in this one.
