Florida make the trip to Texas on the back of a spirited loss to Georgia that has left them with a 4-4 record.
The Gators made a rough start to the season as they sandwiched a 45-7 win over Samford with home defeats to Miami FL, 41-17, and Texas A&M, 45-7.
They steadied the ship with a 45-28 win at Mississippi State, and backed that up two weeks later with a 24-13 victory over UCF.
Florida then bounced back from a 23-17 defeat to Tennessee with a 48-20 victory over Kentucky, only to quickly return to losing ways.
The Gators were not blown out by Georgia last weekend, but they failed to build on a strong first half as they were beaten 34-20.
Texas Form
Texas return from the bye week looking to follow up the victory in Nashville and improve their record to 8-1.
The Longhorns raced out of the blocks with a string of dominant wins over the first several weeks of the season.
They kicked things off with a 52-0 shutout win over Colorado State, and then travelled to Michigan to take down the defending national champions, 31-12.
Texas backed that up by beating UTSA 56-7, UL-Monroe 51-3 and Mississippi State 35-13, before kicking off a run of games against top-25 teams with a 34-3 win over Oklahoma.
The Longhorns’ streak was finally ended as they were beaten 30-15 by Georgia, but they did bounce back at the first attempt as they edged Vanderbilt, 27-24.
Verdict
Texas are the better team and we do expect them to come out on top in this one.
However, the Longhorns have found covers hard to come by recently and their last couple of performances have been underwhelming, so give us the Gators and free points.
