  • Georgia won 43-35 when the two teams last met on October 18

Georgia Form

Georgia kick off their playoff campaign riding a nine-game win streak that included a comprehensive victory in the SEC Championship.

The Bulldogs opened the season with a couple of back-to-back non-conference wins, before opening their SEC schedule with a 44-41 victory at Tennessee.

They failed to back that up as they fell to a 24-21 defeat at home to Alabama, only to respond with a 35-14 victory over Kentucky that proved to be the start of this nine game tear.

Georgia went on to beat Auburn 20-10, Ole Miss 43-35, Florida 24-20, Mississippi State 41-21 and Texas 35-10 as part of that run, securing their place in the conference championship.

The Bulldogs then claimed another SEC crown as they avenged their regular season loss to Alabama, beating the Crimson Tide 28-7.

Ole Miss Form

Ole Miss go into this game on the back of a first-round victory over Tulane that extended their current win streak to six games.

The Rebels won a non-conference opener, before quickly kicking off their SEC schedule with wins over Kentucky, 30-23, and Arkansas, 41-35.

They then sandwiched a 24-19 victory over LSU with a couple of non-conference wins, only to suffer their first defeat of the season as they were beaten 43-35 at Georgia.

Ole Miss rebounded though with four straight SEC victories to seal their place in the playoffs, beating Oklahoma 34-26, South Carolina 30-14, Florida 34-24 and Mississippi State 38-19.

The Rebels then earned their spot in the Sugar Bowl as they repeated a regular season win over Tulane, beating the Green Wave 41-10 in the first round of the playoffs.

Verdict

Ole Miss dominated their first game since Lane Kiffin’s departure, but this Georgia team is a whole different beast.

The Bulldogs are rolling after a dominant SEC Championship win, so we are backing Kirby Smart’s team to cover the spread and march on in the playoffs.
