LSU have been slow starters over the past few years and that spells trouble at Memorial Stadium, where the hosts have been almost unbeatable under Dabo Swinney.
Cade Klubnik is protected by a great line and is surrounded by plenty of weapons, while this defense is stacked at all three levels.

LSU enter the 2025 season looking to make the College Football Playoffs for the first time since 2019.
The format was expanded to 12 teams last year, but the Tigers still missed out as they lost four times over the course of the 2024 campaign.
Their playoff quest suffered a major setback as they dropped their season-opener against USC, 27-20, but they responded well with a six-game win streak that included a 29-26 victory over Ole Miss.
However, their form nose-dived between later October and the middle of November as they lost 38-23 to Texas A&M, 42-13 to Alabama and 27-16 to Florida, and those defeats ended any hopes that LSU had of making the playoffs.
An 8-4 record did earn the Tigers a Bowl Game appearance though, and they closed out the campaign with a 44-31 victory over Baylor in the Texas Bowl.
Clemson Form
Clemson also come into the 2025 campaign with their sights set on the College Football Playoffs.
The Tigers made the cut a year ago as they compiled a 10-3 record on their way to winning another ACC Championship.
They made a rough start as they were blown out 34-3 by Georgia, and although they rallied a, couple more defeats almost cost them dear.
However, Miami simply choked late in the season, dropping two of their final three games, and that gifted Clemson a place in the conference championship game.
The Tigers secured a playoff place by beating SMU 34-31 in a thriller, but they were one-and-done in the postseason as they lost 38-24 to Texas in the first round.
Verdict
This is a blockbuster matchup for Week 1 and you can make a case for either team.
However, the trends slightly favor Clemson in this one, so we are riding with a team that has been rock solid at home under Dabo Swinney’s leadership.
