The Golden Gophers kicked off the campaign at home and got the job done as they beat Buffalo 23-0, and then backed that up with a 66-0 shutout of Northwestern State.

However, they failed to extend their perfect start to three straight games before the bye week.

Minnesota suffered their first defeat of the season as they went out on the road for the first time, losing 27-14 in California.

The Golden Gophers bounced back in their first conference game of the season though, beating Rutgers 31-28 last weekend.

Ohio State Form

Defending national champions Ohio State have enjoyed a perfect start to the season, winning all four of their games so far.

The Buckeyes finally won the big one under Ryan Day last season, beating Notre Dame in the championship game, and their bid for back-to-back titles got off to a notable start.

They kicked off the campaign against a Texas team ranked number one in the nation, and they were able to shut down Arch Manning & Co. in a 14-7 victory.

Ohio State backed that up a week later by shutting out Grambling State in a 70-0 victory, and they then beat Ohio 37-9 to go into their Big Ten opener with a 100% record.

The Buckeyes kept that record intact last weekend, as they went out on the road for the first time to beat Washington 24-6.

Ohio State’s offense has not been at its best so far, but it has not needed to be.
