The Wildcats enjoyed a winning start to the season as they beat Miami OH 13-6, but they went on to lose three of their next four games.
Two of those defeats came on conference duty as they were beaten 24-5 at Washington before losing 41-23 at home to Indiana.
Northwestern got off the mark in the Big Ten with a 37-10 victory at Maryland, only to then suffer a 23-3 home defeat to Wisconsin and a 40-14 loss at Iowa.
The Wildcats avoided a third consecutive defeat however, as they won 26-20 at Purdue last time out.
