Oklahoma at Texas Preview & Picks

Oklahoma are tipped to cover as an underdog in the latest instalment of the Red River Rivalry.

The Sooners boast one of the best pass rushes in all of football and can wreak havoc on Arch Manning, ensuring the visitors at the very least keep this one close.

  • Texas are 1-4-0 ATS in their first 5 games of the 2025 season
  • Oklahoma are 2-1-0 ATS as a road betting underdog this season
  • The team playing on the road has covered in each of the previous 4 meetings
  • The Under has cashed in all 5 of Oklahoma’s games this season

Head To Head

  • Oklahoma lead the all-time series 37-31-3
  • Texas won 34-3 when the two teams last met in October 2024

Oklahoma Form

Oklahoma enter this rivalry matchup boasting a perfect 5-0 record with one victory coming in SEC play.

The Sooners kicked off the campaign with a 35-3 win over Illinois State, and then made an early impression on the AP voters with a 24-13 win over Michigan.

They backed that up a week later as they went out on the road to Temple and won 42-3, before returning home for another big victory.

This time Oklahoma downed ranked Auburn 24-17 in their conference opener, and that victory propelled them into the top five in the rankings.

The Sooners failed to maintain that spot last weekend, but they did come away from the game against Kent State with a 44-0 shutout win.

Texas Form

Texas enter this matchup in desperate need of a victory, having suffered their second defeat of the season last time out.

The Longhorns came into the season as they number one ranked team in the nation, according to AP, but they have not lived up to that billing.

They opened the season with a 14-7 defeat to defending national champions Ohio State.

Texas rebounded over the next three weeks, albeit against ‘cupcake’ opposition, as they beat San Jose State 38-7, UTEP 27-10 and Sam Houston 55-0.

The Longhorns failed to make it four-in-a-row though, as they suffered a 29-21 defeat at the hands of Florida in their SEC opener.

Verdict

They hype train surround Texas and Arch Manning is now officially off the rails.

Oklahoma’s pass rush is going to be a huge issue for the Longhorns so we expect the Sooners to at least stick around all game long and take this to the wire.
