Seattle won their final two games of the regular season to finish 9-8 and scrape into the playoffs.
Little was expected of the Seahawks after they traded away Russell Wilson in the offseason, and they started slow with three defeats in their first five games.
They hit a hot streak in October though, to resurrect their season, winning four straight games to get back into contention.
The Seahawks lost to Tampa Bay and Las Vegas either side of the bye week, before downing the Los Angeles Rams 27-23 on the road in Week 13.
Seattle’s form nose-dived from their though, as they lost three consecutive games to fall to 7-8.
They were beaten at home by both Carolina, 30-24, and San Francisco, 21-13, before heading out on the road to lose 24-10 at Kansas City.
That left them needing to win out and get favors from elsewhere, and that is exactly what happened over the final two weeks.
The Seahawks stopped the rot with a 23-6 win against the New York Jets, and then edged the Rams 19-16 in overtime at home.
San Francisco 49ers Form
San Francisco go into the playoffs as one of the NFL’s hottest teams thanks to a 10-game win streak.
The 49ers made a slow start as they lost two of their first three games and lost starting QB Trey Lance to a season-ending injury.
They were able to win three of the next five though, with Jimmy Garoppolo at the controls, and that 31-14 win at the Los Angeles Rams proved to be the start of a long win streak.
San Francisco returned from the bye to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 22-16 at home, and then built on that with a 38-10 road win at Arizona and a 13-0 win at home to New Orleans.
Their streak hit five games with a 33-17 home win against Miami, but the win came at a price.
The 49ers lost Garoppolo to injury and were forced to turn to ‘Mr Irrelevant’ Brock Purdy for the rest of the season.
Purdy has done a solid job though, leading San Francisco to five more wins to close out the regular season.
They blew out Tampa Bay 35-7 at home before sandwiching a 37-20 home win against Washington with a 21-13 success at Seattle and 37-34 victory at Las Vegas.
San Francisco then wrapped up the regular season with a 38-13 win against Arizona to finish 13-4.
