Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets Preview & Picks

Winnipeg are tipped to make it back-to-back wins in this series.

Colorado ran them close in Game 1, but the Jets got over the line and continue to boast a perfect record when facing the Avalanche this season.

  • Winnipeg Jets are on an 9-game win streak
  • Winnipeg Jets are 4-0 against Colorado this season
  • Winnipeg Jets are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings with Colorado
  • Each of the last 6 meetings have produced at least 6 total goals

Head To Head

  • Winnipeg Jets won the regular season series 3-0
  • Winnipeg Jets lead the NHL Playoffs series 1-0
  • Winnipeg Jets won 7-6 when the two teams last met on April 21

Colorado Avalanche Form

Colorado finished the regular season third in the Central Division standings, having compiled a 50-25-7 record.

The Avalanche enter the playoffs in underwhelming form though, with back-to-back defeats in late March starting a run that saw them lost seven of their final 11 games.

They then sandwiched a 4-1 loss in Columbus with a 7-4 win over Nashville and a 5-2 victory against Minnesota, before suffering back-to-back defeats to Edmonton, 6-2, and Dallas, 7-4.

Colorado rebounded to beat Minnesota 5-2 at home, but they again failed to follow up a win as they lost 7-0 to Winnipeg.

The Avalanche then lost 4-3 in overtime in Vegas, before wrapping up the regular season with a 5-1 victory over Edmonton.

Winnipeg Jets Form

Winnipeg compiled a 52-24-6 record in the regular season to claim second place in the Central Division.

The Jets ended the regular season on a red-hot run of form too, having responded to a six-game skid with eight consecutive victories.

They stopped the rot with a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles, and backed that up with a 5-2 success against Calgary.

Winnipeg then went out on the road to beat Minnesota 5-2, Nashville 4-3 in overtime, Dallas 3-0 and Colorado 7-0.

The Jets continued their streak when they returned home too, as they closed out the regular season with a 4-3 win over Seattle and a 4-2 victory against Vancouver.

Verdict

Colorado did much better in Game 1 than they did in the final regular season meeting.

However, Winnipeg ran out winners once again to continue their dominance of the Avalanche this season, so we cannot turn down the price on the Jets taking a 2-0 series lead.
