The Oilers went 48-29-5 during the regular season to finish third in the Pacific Division, and dug themselves into an early hole in the playoffs.
They lost back-to-back games in Los Angeles, 6-5 and 6-2, but their response to those early setbacks has been strong.

The Oilers then made a dream start to the series against Vegas, recording 4-2 and 5-4 (OT) victories to take command.
They then dropped their opening home game 4-3, only to rebound with a 3-0 victory at home and a 1-0 road win in overtime that clinched the series, 4-1.

Dallas enter the Western Conference Finals having won a couple of long series to go 8-5 in the playoffs.
The Stars went 50-26-6 in the regular season to finish second in the Central Division standings, and their opening playoff series proved to be a marathon affair.
They made a rough start as they lost 5-1 at home to Colorado, but responded with a 4-3 overtime victory at home, before registering a 2-1 overtime success on the road.
Dallas then bounced from a 4-0 loss with a 6-2 victory, before replying to a 7-4 defeat with a series-clinching 4-2 win at home in Game 7.
The Stars made a much better start against Winnipeg, as they won 3-2 on the road before rebounding from a 4-0 loss with 5-2 and 3-1 wins at home.
They passed up on the chance to clinch in Game 5, losing 4-0 on the road, but they took their second chance in Game 6, recording a 2-1 overtime win at home.
Verdict
Dallas must make the most of home advantage in this series, and the good news for them is that their home form as been strong in the playoffs so far.
