Florida enter the second game of the Eastern Conference Finals looking to take a commanding lead with a second road win.
The Panthers made a dream start to the series on Tuesday, as they beat the Hurricanes 5-2 in Carolina.
They came into this series on the back of a marathon clash with Toronto, and having gone 8-4 on their way to this showdown with Carolina.
Florida made a dominant start to the postseason as they went out on the road to beat the Lightning 6-2 and 2-0 in Tampa.
The Panthers then rebounded from a 5-1 home defeat with 4-2 and 6-3 victories to wrap up the series in five games, and advance to the second round.
They made a rough start to that series as they lost back-to-back games in Toronto, 5-4 and 4-3, but they rallied at home with 5-4 win in overtime and a 2-0 victory in regulation.
Florida then ran out 6-1 winners on the road, before responding to a 2-0 home defeat to the Maple Leafs with a series-clinching 6-1 victory in Toronto in Game 7.
Carolina Hurricanes Form
Carolina go into Game 2 of the conference finals in desperate need of a victory, having surrendered home advantage in the series opener.
The Hurricanes were beaten 5-2 by Florida on Tuesday night, and with two road games coming up they will want to issue an immediate response.
They entered this series having been on a dominant playoff run, winning eight of their first 10 games.
Carolina made a flying start to the postseason as they beat New Jersey 4-1 and 3-1 to take control of that first-round series.
The Hurricanes then rebounded from a 3-2 overtime defeat on the road with a 5-2 win in New Jersey, before wrapping up the series with a 5-4 overtime victory at home.
They gained an early upper-hand in the second round too, beating Washington 2-1 in overtime on the road.
Carolina lost 3-1 in Game 2, but their response was strong as they won 4-0 and 5-2 at home, before heading back to Washington to wrap up the series with a 3-1 victory.
Verdict
Carolina came into this series with a good home record, but it is tough to ignore a Florida team going from strength to strength.
The Panthers have been great on the road and appear very capable of winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, so we are backing the visitors to take a 2-0 series lead.
