Charlotte are looking to build on a solid season in 2024 as they finished fifth in the Eastern Conference with 14 wins from their 34 league games. A frustrating round one loss in the play-offs to Orlando was not how their season was meant to end as they were eliminated at the first hurdle.
They began the new season in fairly solid style, securing a point against a Seattle Sounders side that finished in fourth in the Western Conference last season. While a win would have been the perfect way to start the new season, avoiding defeat against a good host was also impressive.
It is tough to separate the two sides in this one. With only one game of the new campaign under their belts, the form of the two sides is very much up in the air. What we were able to learn from the two sides is that they may be leaky at the back, with both sides conceding two goals each. With this in mind, we expect goals.
Atlanta United Form
Atlanta United were excellent in their opening match of the season as they took the lead three times against a stubborn Montreal outfit.
The regularity at which they surrendered the lead will worry United, but if they can keep outscoring the opposition, then a leaky defence will not be a major problem.
United will be looking to build on their run to the Conference Semi-Finals last year, and they can double down on their good start by securing a second win. With this in mind, we predict both sides will score as the pair look for the points.

We are backing both sides to score in this one with goals the order of the day. It is still too early to know whether either is strong enough to defeat the other, so we are instead backing over 3.5 goals, with the pair in scoring mood in their opening matches.
