Dominic Stricker is an immensely talented player who will enjoy home support and arrives with confidence after his first-round win over Jaume Munar. However, his fitness remains a major concern, and it is difficult to see him maintaining the same level if this becomes a long, physical contest. That makes him a dangerous player early in the match, but increasingly vulnerable as it progresses.

Shevchenko Continues Gstaad Campaign
Alexander Shevchenko moved into the second round after coming from a set down to defeat Alexandre Muller 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. He fired 13 aces and saved three of the four break points he faced during the match.
Last year, he also won his opening match in Gstaad before losing to eventual champion Alexander Bublik in the second round. He will now look to improve on that result this week.
The Kazakh has struggled for consistency in recent months. Since the start of the clay season, he has played 12 tournaments across all levels but has registered multiple wins only once, when he reached the final of the Bratislava Challenger.
He has also produced a couple of encouraging ATP results this season, reaching the quarterfinals in Adelaide and the third round in Miami. He is now looking to reach his first tour-level clay-court quarterfinal since Kitzbuhel in 2025.

Stricker Builds Momentum on Home Soil
Dominic Stricker moved into the second round after a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jaime Faria. Despite dropping serve twice, he never trailed during the match and wrapped up the win in straight sets.
The Swiss is now looking for his best result in Gstaad. He has previously reached the second round on three occasions but has been unable to progress beyond that stage.
The 23-year-old has struggled with recurring fitness issues in recent years, which significantly slowed his progress and saw him fall outside the top 300 in the rankings. He is now aiming to reach his first tour-level quarterfinal since Stockholm in 2024.
