Medjedovic Reaches Semifinals From Qualifying
Hamad Medjedovic continued his impressive run from qualifying to reach the semifinals in Barcelona, defeating Nuno Borges 7-6, 6-2. He also secured the biggest win of his career by beating Alex de Minaur in straight sets in the previous round.
The Serbian was close to breaking into the top 50 last year, but failure to defend runner-up points in Belgrade and Marseille, along with inconsistent results, pushed him outside the top 100.
He has rediscovered his form on clay, winning 10 matches on the surface recently, including a Challenger title in Naples, with his only loss coming in the opening round in Marrakech.
Medjedovic holds a 2-2 record in tour-level semifinals. His only semifinal appearance on clay ended in defeat to Pedro Cachin in Gstaad 2023.
