Brandon Nakashima is riding high on confidence and momentum after a string of impressive victories and deep runs in recent weeks. His comfort on North American hard courts has been evident throughout this stretch, and those conditions should work strongly in his favor once again.

Titouan Droguet, meanwhile, is still relatively inexperienced at this level and faces a significant step up in class.

Nakashima Builds Momentum In Canada

  • Nakashima has a 6–2 record against players outside the Top 100 in 2026.
  • He has a 3–8 career record in third-round Masters matches.
  • Droguet has never won a Masters main-draw match.
  • He has a 4–3 record against Top 50 players in 2026.

Nakashima Looks to Extend His Montreal Run

Brandon Nakashima opened his Montreal campaign with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory over Daniel Altmaier. The American saved all three break points he faced and won 92 percent of his first-serve points during the match.

Nakashima has produced four semifinal-or-better finishes this season, including his run to the Washington semifinals last week, which has helped him remain comfortably inside the top 30 in the rankings.

The 25-year-old reached the round of 16 on his most recent appearance at the Canadian Open in Toronto in 2024 and will be looking to match or better that result this week.

Droguet Continues His Dream Montreal Campaign

After surviving back-to-back three-set battles against Dalibor Svrcina and Luca Van Assche, Titouan Droguet produced a much more comfortable performance by defeating Jaime Faria in straight sets to reach the third round in Montreal.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season. Before this week, he had never won a main-draw match at Masters 1000 level, making this run his best result at this level.

Earlier this year, Droguet recorded his maiden ATP Tour semifinal in Montpellier and added quarterfinal appearances in Bucharest and Umag, underlining his steady progress on the main tour.

Verdict

With confidence, home-continent conditions, and recent form all on his side, Nakashima looks well placed to control this matchup. Backing Brandon Nakashima to win in straight sets and Nakashima to cover the -3.5 games handicap looks like the ideal approach.
