Merida Aguilar Keeps Momentum Rolling

Daniel Merida Aguilar secured his place in the quarterfinals in Umag after upsetting Tomás Martín Etcheverry in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. He dropped serve once and broke his opponent three times during the match.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season after not playing a tour-level main-draw match before 2026. His impressive rise has helped him climb to a career-high ranking of No. 82.

His standout results this season include reaching his maiden ATP final in Bucharest, the third round in Madrid, and registering his first Grand Slam main-draw win at Wimbledon. He has also reached two Challenger finals, highlighting his steady progress over the past seven months.

Droguet Returns to Umag Quarterfinals

Titouan Droguet booked his place in the Umag quarterfinals after winning back-to-back three-set matches. He came from a set down to beat Alexander Blockx 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the opening round before edging Luca Van Assche 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 in the second round.

With this run, he has matched his best result in Umag after also reaching the quarterfinals last year, where he lost to Damir Džumhur in three sets. He will now look to go one step further this week.

Droguet has produced eight quarterfinal-or-better finishes across all levels this season, with two of those coming on the ATP Tour. His best results include a semifinal in Montpellier and a quarterfinal in Bucharest, and he heads into this match with a 1-2 record in ATP quarterfinals.
