Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has lost all five ATP finals he has contested, with several of those defeats coming in closely fought matches where he appeared to struggle with the pressure of closing out his maiden tour-level title. That record makes it difficult to fully trust him as the favorite in another championship match, despite his obvious talent and the advantage of playing at home.

  • Ethan Quinn is playing his maiden tour-level final.
  • He holds a 3–5 record against Top 30 players in 2026.

Quinn Continues Breakthrough Week

Ethan Quinn reached his first ATP Tour final after defeating Nuno Borges in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Earlier in the week, he came through back-to-back three-set battles against Murphy Cassone and Vit Kopriva before producing his most dominant performance of the tournament.

The American has shown flashes of his potential despite struggling for consistency. His best performances have come at the biggest events, helping him climb steadily up the rankings over the past year.

Earlier this season, Quinn reached the third round at both the Australian Open and Miami. He also produced a couple of semifinal-or-better finishes on the Challenger Tour, and this run to the final has guaranteed him a top-50 debut in next week's rankings.

Davidovich Fokina Keeps Momentum Alive

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina moved into the Mallorca final after coming from a set down to defeat Fabian Marozsan 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. It was the first time he had dropped this week after straight-set victories over Adam Walton and Grigor Dimitrov in the previous rounds.

After struggling to win multiple matches since March, Davidovich Fokina has enjoyed an encouraging grass-court swing. He reached the quarterfinals at Queen's Club last week and has now gone one step further by reaching the final in Mallorca.

Davidovich Fokina has 0-5 in ATP Tour finals in his career. It is a disappointing record given his talent and ability, but he now has another opportunity to break that streak.

Verdict

Rather than picking a winner, the better value lies in expecting a long and competitive final. Backing over 22.5 games, over 2.5 sets, and a tiebreak to be played are the selections that best fit the likely match scenario.
