Zizou Bergs has finally managed to string together consecutive wins again, defeating Jaume Munar and Daniel Altmaier this week to record back-to-back main-tour victories for the first time since the Monte Carlo Masters. That run should provide a timely boost in confidence, and with his aggressive style of play well suited to grass, he looks capable of building further momentum.

His greater experience at tour level and superior grass-court pedigree also give him a clear edge over his relatively inexperienced opponent.

One Win From The Semifinals

  • Choinski had never won multiple tour-level matches before this week.
  • He owns a 0–6 career record against Top 50 players.
  • Bergs holds a 3–5 record in tour-level quarterfinals.
  • He owns a 5–2 record against players outside the Top 100.

Jan Choinski Reaches First ATP Quarterfinal

Jan Choinski secured his place in the Eastbourne quarterfinals after defeating Alexei Popyrin and Felix Gill in back-to-back three-set matches. He also came through qualifying with wins over Marcos Giron and Yibing Wu.

This is the first tour-level quarterfinal of Choinski's career. Before this week, he had won only two ATP main-draw matches and had never recorded multiple main-draw wins at a grass-court event.

Before arriving in Eastbourne, Choinski played 19 tournaments across all levels this season and recorded multiple wins at only three of them, all on the Challenger Tour. His best results were a runner-up finish in Zagreb and quarterfinal appearances in Thionville and Poznan.

Zizou Bergs Targets Last Four Spot

Zizou Bergs secured his place in the Eastbourne quarterfinals after Daniel Altmaier retired while trailing by a set and 2-3 in the second set. Earlier in the tournament, the Belgian defeated Jaume Munar in the opening round.

This is the second grass-court quarterfinal of Bergs' career. His previous one came in 's-Hertogenbosch last year, where he went on to reach the final. He was unable to defend those points this season after losing in the opening round.

Bergs arrived in Eastbourne on a six-match losing streak at tour level. Before this week, his only multiple main-draw wins on the ATP Tour this season came in Monte Carlo, where he reached the third round.

He holds a 3-5 record in tour-level quarterfinals. All three of those victories came during the 2025 season.

Verdict

With confidence finally returning and the matchup favoring his strengths, Bergs looks well placed to take control from the outset. Backing Bergs to win in straight sets and Bergs to cover the -3.5 games handicap are the standout selections for this contest.
