Halys Builds on His Recent Breakthrough
Quentin Halys moved into the second round in Cincinnati after defeating Vit Kopriva in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. He also won two matches in the qualifying stages earlier this week, giving him four wins already in Cincinnati.
The Frenchman struggled earlier this year, apart from his fourth-round run in Miami, as he failed to win multiple main-draw matches in any other event during the first four months.
However, he has raised his level recently by winning the title in Kitzbuhel, reaching the quarterfinals in Eastbourne and Gstaad and the third round at the French Open. These results have helped him move closer to returning to the top 50 after previously falling outside the top 100.

De Minaur Looks to Bounce Back in Cincinnati
Alex de Minaur is coming off a disappointing campaign in Montreal, where he lost to Cameron Norrie in three sets after leading by a set and 5-2. He also failed to defend his title in Washington a few weeks ago.
Despite those recent setbacks, the Australian has produced solid results this year, including seven quarterfinal-or-better results on tour along with a fourth-round run at Wimbledon.
This is his sixth appearance in Cincinnati, and he cleared the opening-round hurdle in three of his previous four appearances. He notably reached the third round during his debut in 2019.
