Mensik Eyes Another Deep Masters Run
Jakub Mensik defeated Jacob Fearnley 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the third round in Montreal. The Czech fired nine aces and saved six of the nine break points he faced during the match.
Since his breakthrough semifinal run at the French Open, Mensik has struggled to string together victories, with this marking his first multiple-win run on tour since Roland Garros.
Earlier this season, the Czech enjoyed several standout results, winning the Auckland title, reaching the semifinals in Doha, and making the fourth round at the Australian Open.
Last year, Mensik reached the third round in Montreal before losing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. He will now be aiming to surpass that result this week.
