Birmingham enter this matchup having already secured a place in the playoffs with a 6-3 record.
The Stallions’ quest for a fourth straight spring title got off to a rough start as they were beaten 18-11 at DC on opening weekend.
They rebounded over the next few weeks though, beating Michigan 21-12, Arlington 10-9 and Houston 23-16.
Birmingham’s run was ended by a 24-20 loss to Memphis, but they rebounded quickly with a 26-3 blowout of San Antonio and a 33-25 success against Houston.
The Stallions failed to make it three-in-a-row, losing 29-28 in St Louis, only to bounce back last weekend with a 26-22 victory at home to Michigan.
Memphis Showboats Form
Memphis go into their final game of the regular season having already been eliminated from playoff contention with a 2-7 record.
The Showboats, who won just two games last season, opened the campaign with four consecutive defeats, losing 26-12 to Michigan, 17-12 at DC, 18-17 to Houston and 27-9 in Michigan.
They finally got their first victory in Week 5 as they upset Birmingham on the road, 24-20, but they failed to build on that over the next couple of weeks.
Memphis were beaten 21-20 on the road in Houston, before returning home for a 19-9 loss to St Louis.
The Showboats avoided a third straight defeat as they won 24-22 in San Antonio, but they immediately returned to losing ways last weekend as they fell 30-12 to Arlington.
Verdict
This is a ‘dead rubber’ for Birmingham, but they are still the better of these two teams.
They also have the added incentive of avenging a shock loss in Week 5, so we are sticking with the Stallions for this one.
