St Louis enter their regular season finale riding a five-game win streak that has led them to a league-best 7-2 record.
The Battlehawks opened up with back-to-back victories, beating Houston 31-6 at home and San Antonio 26-9 on the road, only to cool off over the next couple of weeks.
They lost 27-15 at home to DC, and then suffered a 30-15 defeat when they visited Arlington.
St Louis rebounded though, beating Michigan 32-27 and Arlington 12-6 at home, before heading to Memphis to take down the Showboats, 19-9.
The Battlehawks then took their winning run to five games with a couple of home wins, beating defending champions Birmingham 29-28 and downing San Antonio 39-13.
DC Defenders Form
DC head into their final game of the regular season on the back of a loss, but with a playoff place confirmed thanks to a 6-3 record.
The Defenders raced out of the blocks with three consecutive wins, beating Birmingham 18-11 and Memphis 17-12 at home, before downing St Louis 27-15 on the road.
Their flying start was ended by a 24-18 loss to San Antonio, and although they rebounded a week later to win 37-33 in Arlington, they then fell to a 38-14 defeat in Michigan.
DC rallied over the next couple of weeks, ensuring a postseason berth as they beat San Antonio 32-24 on the road and Arlington 33-30 at home.
The Defenders failed to make it three-in-a-row however, as they were beaten 24-21 in Houston last time out.
Verdict
St Louis lost at home to DC earlier this season, but they are the team in form headed into this meeting.
