  • The Barbasol Championship takes place between July 7-10
  • The tournament takes place at the Keene Trace Golf Club, Nicholasville, Kentucky
  • Our 4 selections who can win the title
The field is not the strongest for this PGA Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned tournament in Kentucky, but the competition will be stiff with a spot in the Open Championship up for grabs next week.

Seamus Power will not be back to defend his title after victory last year.

The past champions of the Barbasol Championship in the field include Jim Herman, Grayson Murray and Aaron Baddeley.

The winner of the Barbasol Championship, if he is not already qualified, will secure the final place in The Open Championship.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Adam Svensson

Adam Svensson had an excellent start to his year, placing T7 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T49 at the American Express, 79th at the Farmers Insurance Open, T49 AT&T Pebble Beach and T9 at the Honda Classic.

The Canadian's form then dipped, and he missed the cut five times in his next ten starts, with his best results being T39 at the Valspar Championship, T26 at the RBC Heritage, T40 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T45 at the Memorial Tournament.

The 28-year-old has been in better form in his last three tournaments, finishing T21 at the RBC Canadian Open, T25 at the Travelers Championship and T24 at the John Deere Classic this past weekend.

He played at the 2019 Barbasol Championship and missed the cut.

Svensson has turned the corner and is showing signs that he is ready to win the maiden PGA Tour title of his career.

Chesson Hadley

Chesson Hadley has not had one of his better seasons on the PGA Tour, but in his last two tournaments, he has shown signs that he has refound his touch around the greens.

The American golfer missed the cut ten times in his first 14 tournaments in 2022, with his best results being T61 at the Puerto Rico Open, T63 at the Players Championship, T53 at the Valero Texas Open and T69 at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

The 35-year-old bounced back to form with an impressive fifth place at the Travelers Championship and continued to play well at the John Deere Classic, coming T10 overall.

He has featured four times at this event, placing T39 in 2015, T11 in 2016, T27 in 2017 and MC in 2021.

Hadley will have a chance to capture his second PGA Tour title if he can replicate his recent form at the Keene Trace Golf Club this weekend.

Patton Kizzire

Patton Kizzire has played in 17 PGA Tour events in 2022 and has been consistent enough to make the weekend rounds, missing the cut on five occasions.

The 36-year-old American's best results have been T22 at the American Express, T10 at the Phoenix Open, T32 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T22 at the Players Championship, T33 at the Valspar Championship, T26 at the RBC Heritage and T16 at the John Deere Classic this past weekend.

The two-time winner on the PGA Tour is making his debut at the Barbasol Championship.

Kizzire had decent results and with the field weakened, he can feature prominently in Kentucky this weekend.

John Huh

John Huh's first ten tournaments on the PGA Tour for 2022 were poor, as he missed the cut on five occasions, although he did have a top ten finish at the Honda Classic, coming T9th overall.

His next three starts were excellent, placing T12 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T25 at the RBC Canadian Open and T13 at the Travelers Championship, but he missed the cut at the John Deere Classic this past weekend.

He is making only his second appearance at this tournament, having missed the cut in 2014.

Huh is the long-shot selection as he has been in better form in recent starts and can make his presence felt at the Barbasol Championship.

Verdict

Svensson has posted solid results of late and can challenge for the title in Kentucky.

Hadley's last two starts will give him the belief he can win again on the PGA Tour.

Kizzire has been threatening to produce a top result and has a chance in this field.

Huh is the long-shot value bet as he has shown his ability in recent tournaments.
