The Pirates failed to build on a couple of wins in Cincinnati when they moved on to Atlanta to face the Braves.
They dropped the first two games of that series, 6-1 and 2-1, before avoiding being swept as they took the final encounter, 4-2.
Pittsburgh returned home after that and sandwiched a 5-4 win over St Louis with 7-4 and 3-2 defeats at the hands of the Cardinals.
The Pirates then hosted the New York Mets and made a successful start to the series, winning 14-2, before rebounding from 5-2 and 3-2 defeats with an 8-2 win.
Milwaukee Brewers Form
Milwaukee enter this series on the back of a victory in Los Angeles that ended a three-game skid.
The Brewers hit a rich vein of form in late June as they followed up a 6-2 win in San Diego with 6-3, 3-1 and 6-5 home victories over Texas.
They then played host to the Chicago Cubs and sandwiched a 5-3 defeat to the visitors with 4-2 and 7-1 wins.
Milwaukee went out on the road after that and split a four-game series with Colorado, rebounding from an 8-7 loss with 4-3 and 3-0 wins, only to lose the final meeting 3-0.
The Brewers then travelled to Los Angeles and lost 8-5 and 5-3 to the Dodgers, but they avoided being swept as they won the series finale, 9-2.
Verdict
Milwaukee have been a reliable pick at home and have a big advantage at starting pitcher for this one, so we expect a comfortable Brewers win.
