Aljamain Sterling Form
Aljamain Sterling is a former UFC bantamweight champion and the current number five ranked featherweight contender with a professional record of 25-6 (3 KOs, 8 Subs).
Sterling debuted in the UFC back in 2014, and won 10 of his first 13 fights to force his way into title contention.
He then secured a shot at the bantamweight crown when he submitted Cory Sandhagen in 88 seconds in a title eliminator fight in June 2020.
‘Funk Master’ won the title in controversial fashion as he beat Petr Yan by disqualification due to an illegal knee, but there was less controversy surrounding the rematch as he won via split decision.
Sterling knocked out TJ Dillashaw in his next defence of the crown, and then beat Henry Cejudo by split decision as he broke the record for most consecutive defences of the bantamweight championship.
The 36-year-old American failed to make another successful defence though, as he was knocked out in the second round by Sean O’Malley in August 2023.
Instead of remaining in the division after that loss, Sterling made the move to featherweight and enjoyed a winning start at the weight as he beat Calvin Kattar on points.
He failed to follow that up as he dropped a decision to Movsar Evloev, but he did rebound last August as he earned a points victory over Brian Ortega.
Youssef Zalal Form
Youssef Zalal is the number seven ranked contender in the bantamweight division with a career record of 18-5-1 (4 KOs, 10 Subs).
Zalal made his UFC debut in February 2020, but after winning his first three fights he saw his form collapse with three consecutive defeats, followed by a draw against Da’Mon Blackshear.
That cost the 29-year-old his spot in the UFC, and he returned to the minor scene to resurrect his career.
He did just that with three straight victories in the Sparta Combat League, and that was enough to earn him a second shot at the UFC.
Zalal has so far taken full advantage of the opportunity, reeling off five consecutive victories to put himself on the brink of bantamweight title contention.
‘The Moroccan Devil’ marked his return with a second-round submission of Billy Quarantillo in March 2024, and backed that up with a first-round stoppage of Jamo Errens.
He then closed out 2024 with a second-round tapout of Jack Shore, before winning both of his outings in 2025.
Zalal first out-pointed Calvin Kattar over three rounds, before submitting Josh Emmett in 98 seconds last October.
