Amanda Ribas is the #9 ranked women’s flyweight contender with a professional record of 13-4 (4 KOs, 4 Subs).
Ribas debuted in the UFC in June 2019 and got off to a fast start as she won her first four fights inside the Octagon.
She tapped out Emily Whitmire in the second round in her debut, before besting Mackenzie Dern and Randa Markos on the judge’s scorecards.
The 30-year-old Brazilian then tapped out Paige VanZant in the first round, but she has struggled for consistency ever since.
Ribas was knocked out in the second round by Marina Rodriguez, before getting back to winning ways with a unanimous decision win over Virna Jandiroba.
She then dropped a split decision to Katlyn Chookagian before claiming a points win over Viviane Araujo.
The Brazilian once again failed to build on a victory as she lost to Maycee Barber by second-round TKO, but she did bounce back last November by knocking out Luana Pinheiro in the third.
Rose Namajunas Form
Rose Namajunas is a two-time former UFC women’s strawweight champion with a record of 11-6 (2 KOs, 5 Subs).
Namajunas first debuted in the UFC back in December 2014 and made a losing start to her run with the promotion.
She rebounded from that loss by submitting Angela Hill and Paige VanZant, and then beat Tecia Torres by unanimous decision to continue her rise up the ladder.
‘Thug Rose’ suffered her first UFC defeat after that, losing by split decision to Karolina Kowalkiewicz, but she responded with a three-fight win streak that earned her a title.
Namajunas submitted Michelle Waterson in the second round and then shocked the world by stopping Joanna Jedrzejczyk with strikes in round one to become strawweight champion.
The 31-year-old American then won the rematch by unanimous decision, but in her second defence of the crown she was knocked out in the second round by Jessica Andrade.
She won the rematch the following year by split decision, earning herself a shot at champion Zhang Weili.
Namajunas took her opportunity and knocked out Zhang in 78 seconds to regain the title, and in the rematch she then beat the Chinese fighter by split decision.
‘Thug Rose’ has not won since though, dropping the title to Carla Esparza by split decision before losing to Manon Fiorot by unanimous decision last September.
Verdict
If a motivated and healthy Rose Namajunas turns up, she should have too much for Amanda Ribas.
Her last few fights have gone the distance though, so we are leaning towards ‘Thug Rose’ needing the judges’ assistance.
