The Cardinals got off to a good start last weekend, beating Missouri State 42-34, and they will now look to build momentum and avoid a repeat of last year's slow start.
They lost six of their first seven games a year ago, but rallied with three wins in their final five outings to salvage some pride.
Ball State first downed Central Michigan at home, 24-17, only to suffer a 24-21 defeat when the visited Bowling Green a couple of weeks later.
The Cardinals rebounded from that loss with a 20-17 victory at Northern Illinois, and then won 34-3 at home to Kent State before closing out the season with a 17-15 loss to Miami OH.

The Hurricanes were sent to Florida on opening weekend and sent a message to the rest of college football as they blew out the Gators in a 41-17 victory.
They earned rave reviews for the performance, with new quarterback Cam Ward getting the most attention, and they backed that up last weekend with a 56-9 blowout of Florida A&M.
Miami FL will now look to go 3-0 as they bid to end their College Football Playoff drought this season.
The Hurricanes missed out a year ago as they lost five of their eight conference games, and they closed out that campaign with a 31-24 defeat to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Miami FL have made a tremendous start to the season, reeling off a couple of dominant victories.
The spread is big for this one, but the Hurricanes have offered plenty of reasons for confidence and it has been a long time since Ball State covered against a ranked opponent.
