Florida State failed to make straightforward work of Miami FL in their rivalry game, fending off a late rally from the Hurricanes to win 27-20.
The Seminoles then lost star quarterback Jordan Travis to a season-ending ankle injury during the 58-13 blowout of minnows North Alabama.

Florida enter this matchup having now lost each of their last four games to fall to 5-6 for the season.
The Gators lost 24-11 at #14 Utah on opening night, but rebounded with a three-game win streak that saw them upset #11 Tennessee, 29-16, to climb into the rankings.
They quickly exited the top 25 with a 33-14 loss at Kentucky, although they bounced back quickly to beat Vanderbilt 38-14 and South Carolina 41-39.
However, Florida have not won since those October victories, starting a four-game skid with a 43-20 defeat to #1 Georgia.
The Gators then lost 39-36 at home to Arkansas, before heading out on the road to lose 52-35 at #18 LSU and 33-31 at #11 Missouri.
Verdict
Florida State are the better team, but the loss of Jordan Travis is a huge setback for them.
